Mature Skin

What is mature skin?

At what age do you really have mature skin?

We talk about mature skin from menopause or pre-menopause, generally around 40-50 years old.

As we age the production of collagen and elastin naturally slows down, causing sagging skin and loss of elasticity.

The hormonal upheaval of menopause causes changes on the skin which becomes thinner, dry, and sensitive. Wrinkles and pigmentation spots are more and more visible.

Mature skin problems:Mature skin goals :
  • Loss of firmness and tone

  • Wrinkles & fine lines

  • Hyperpigmentation

  • More marked dryness and redness

  • Hydrate intensely

  • Stimulate the production of collagen

  • Boost skin defenses and protect from external aggressions

  • Brighten the complexion

Anti-aging care: when do I start?

Prevention is the key!

Various factors such as the sun, pollution, tobacco consumption, and an unbalanced diet accelerate the aging of the skin.

As soon as we are 30 years old we adopt good beauty reflexes to prevent the first wrinkles.

Anti Aging

3 crucial anti-aging actions:

  1. Good hydration: This is the first anti-aging gesture! Well-hydrated skin will be more supple and plump and will wrinkle less quickly.
  2. Bet on antioxidants: As their name suggests, these molecules prevent the oxidation of cells. They neutralize freeradicals and repair the damage caused by external aggressions, the main culprits of premature skin aging.
  3. Sun protectionSunscreen is the best anti-wrinkle! As we know, the sun is the number 1 factor in skin aging, so it's compulsory SPF every day (not only in summer and at the beach). Studies show that the daily use of sun protection not only prevents skin aging but also reverses existing damage from photoaging like wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots.

 Top 10 anti-aging organic ingredients

  1. Retinol: Also called vitamin A, it protects the skin from skin aging, boosts collagen production, and stimulates cell renewal for plump and protected skin. It is extremely effective against inflammations, spots, and acne scars.

Please note that retinol is not always well tolerated by sensitive skin! To take advantage of its benefits without risking irritation, opt for its twin brother bakuchiol, an equally effective natural alternative (or vegetable oils naturally rich in vitamin A such as wild rose).

  2. Vitamin C: It’s one of the best known anti-aging active ingredients, and for good reason. Ultra antioxidant, it neutralizes free radicals and slows skin aging. Vitamin C stimulates the production of collagen for regenerated and firmer skin. It is also formidable against pigment spots and scars because it regulates the production of melanin.

  3. Hyaluronic acid: The other star of anti-aging skincare! This molecule has the capacity to retain up to 1000 times its weight in water to guaranteeing optimal hydration. It acts as a real “filler” for wrinkles and instantly plumps the skin.

Be careful, not all hyaluronic acids are created equal: for true anti-aging effectiveness, we choose it with low molecular weight, so that it penetrates deeply and boosts collagen production.

  4. AHA & fruit enzymes: Fruit acids and enzymes provide a gentle peeling and exfoliating effect, promoting cell renewal. The smooth and brighten the skin, and fade spots.

Anti Aging Face Care

  1. Green tea: Known since ancient times for its incredible antioxidant, detoxifying and anti-inflammatory properties, it stimulates collagen production and cell renewal, protects from free radicals, and tones the skin.

Our favorite? matcha green tea, with tenfold antioxidant efficacy.

  2. Immortal flower: this Corsican flower that has the peculiarity of never fading, even when harvested, has propertiesexceptional regenerating, healing and restorative properties. An anti-aging active is very popular against wrinkles and age spots.

  3. Vitamin E: A powerful antioxidant that acts as a shield against free radicals. It slows skin aging and prevents cell damage.

  4. Coenzyme Q10: Also known as ubiquinone, it is a premium anti-aging and anti-wrinkle active ingredient that slows cell aging, strengthens and smoothes the skin.

  5. Dragon's blood: This Amazonian resin is a powerful anti-inflammatory that activates the repairing and healing functions of the skin, stimulating cell renewal and protecting it from external aggressions.

  6. Hibiscus: Called "the botox plant", this flower is appreciated for its lifting and firming properties. Rich in antioxidants, it prevents sagging skin and strengthens tissue elasticity, while helping to boost hydration and radiance.

Organic Anti Aging Cream

Mature skin: My organic anti-aging ritual

Follow the guide to adopt the right beauty gestures and pamper your mature skin!

What cleanser for mature skin?

Skin, mature or not, cleansing is a step that should not be overlooked for beautiful skin.

Exit pure water that does not clean anything at all, soaps, micellar water without rinsing, and too stripping formulas, we prefer gentle cleansers suitable for dry and sensitive skin.
The ideal? Melting and nourishing formulas (oils, balms, cream, milk) preserve the hydrolipidic film and leave the skin soft and comfortable. Start by massaging a makeup remover oil full of antioxidants, like Adaptology's Time Warp Anti-Ageing Cleansing Oil with Vitamin C, onto dry skin, then follow with a gentle cleansing cream that removes the last impurities and pollution residue.

From time to time (2 to 3 times a week), we switch our usual cleanser for an exfoliating cleanser that boosts cell renewal, like Tata Harper's Regenerating Cleanser. To finish the cleansing ritual, we spray toner or mist, which boosts hydration and prepares the skin to receive skincare.

Anti Wrinkle

Should I cleanse my skin in the morning?
No need to use a cleanser so as not to weaken the skin, we just spray a hydrosol, thermal water, or organic tonic lotion to refresh and purify gently.

Do you need an anti-aging serum?

A serum is a concentrate of active ingredients which will boost the effectiveness of the treatments and, in the case of an anti-aging serum, will make it possible to effectively fight against skin aging and free radicals. It is the number one anti-aging ally!

Which serum for mature skin?
We adapt our serum according to the problem we want to target: lack of firmness, wrinkles, blemishes ... or we choose an all-in-one formula that treats all signs of aging.
Does Ours go to? The hyaluronic acid serum that plumps up the skin, the vitamin C serum that smoothes and brightens the complexion, the bio-retinol serum that reduces the appearance of wrinkles and spots.

Anti-aging organic cream: which to choose?

For the morning, the ideal is a complete skincare product with SPF in order to prevent the photo-aging, as De Mamiel's Exhale Daily Hydrating Nectar SPF 30, or Madara's Radiant Shield SPF15 Day Cream.

Morning and evening,  organic face oil is the ally of mature skins, to restore suppleness and comfort, and infuse the skin with antioxidants and vitamins. A few drops are enough, to be massaged into damp skin.

The must: Use a gua sha as a complement to penetrate, sculpt and firm the features.

Are you a cream fan? Aurelia day and night moisturizer creams with probiotics and peptides are ideal for moisturizing while fighting the signs of aging.

Don't hesitate to use a specific night treatment, a time when the skin regenerates, to repair in-depth and wake up with a baby's skin!

Mature skin: 6 areas you should not forget

Be careful not to neglect fragile areas: eye area, neck and décolleté, hands, lips. Very exposed to external aggressions, they tend to mark the signs of aging more quickly.

Neck & décolleté:
It is not necessarily required to add specific care to your routine, on the other hand, you take the reflex to make your cream or oil “go down” to the neck and décolleté.
Tip: We always perform lifting gestures from bottom to top.

To counteract sagging skin, our favorite isOdacité's Bu + L Firming Serum, which can also be applied to the neck and décolleté.

The eye area :
The skin around the eye is particularly thin and fragile, and easily marks fine lines of dehydration and crow's feet. With age, the bags under the eyes are also more marked.
We opt for an anti-aging treatment specifically adapted to the eye area which decongests and blurs dark circles and wrinkles.

Tip: Treat yourself to a decongestant and smoothing massage around the eye area using the smallest tip of your pink quartz roll-on;)

Anti Aging Face Cream

Hands
:
Assaulted by the cold, the sun, hard water ... the skin on the hands becomes thinner and dehydrated, the veins are more visible and brown spots appear.
Tip: After applying your facial or SPF, massage the excess product on your hands.
We take the reflex to regularly hydrate our hands throughout the day: after each hand wash, at the office, before going to bed ... we always keep a tube of hand cream available!
Just like the face and the body, we do not forget to apply sun protection on the hands when we are exposed.

Lips:
With age, they become thinner and dehydrated, and fine lines settle in.
Remedy: use and abuse lip balm with ultra-nourishing formulas rich in antioxidant and plumping active ingredients!

And the body?

We tend to neglect it compared to the face, yet the skin of the body also needs to be pampered! The most professional among us will take the time to massage it with a firming accessory for tenfold effectiveness.

What scrub for mature skin?

Exfoliation is one of the keys to beautiful skin, which will also allow your serums and anti-aging creams to penetrate better and therefore be more effective!
We rely on exfoliating fruit acids and enzymes for new skin, in masks, serums, or lotions.

Anti-aging mask: what really works?

The organic face mask offers an intense anti-aging treatment once or twice a week. Regularity is the key to seeing results!

Which anti-aging mask to choose?

Choose organic retinol masks for a regenerating effect, moisturizing masks with hyaluronic acid for plumped-up skin, or a lifting mask with a tightening effect to combat wrinkles and loss of firmness.

MCB tip: From time to time, swap your night care for a moisturizing mask like Tata Harper's Hydrating Floral Mask with hyaluronic acid, for a baby's skin in the morning.

Anti-aging food supplements: effective or not?

We know it, the beauty (and youthfulness) of the skin is also played inside!
To slow down skin aging we advise you:

  • Marine collagen: An essential protein in the human body, collagen helps maintain tissue elasticity. It prevents wrinkles and fine lines and firms the skin.

  • Hyaluronic acid: Intensely hydrates the skin and prevents wrinkles.

  • Superfoods rich in vitamin C: camu camu, goji, baobab… powerful antioxidants that preserve the youthfulness of the skin.

Our favorite beauty supplement for mature skin? Atelier Nubio "We Want... A Doll Complexion" is rich in collagen and antioxidants to fight against all the signs of aging and prevent their appearance.

Besides that, we naturally adopt a balanced diet, and we favor trace elements.

Anti Aging Cream

Mature skin & blemishes: is it possible?

In some cases the hormonal imbalance of menopause can cause the appearance of imperfections: an excess of androgens leads to hormonal acne and excess of sebum.
The good news is that, contrary to popular belief, anti-aging and anti-acne are not incompatible: many anti-aging active ingredients such as vitamin C and retinol are also effective against imperfections!

The ideal routine (in addition to a double cleanse):

  1. Aurelia's Resurfacing Serum with bakuchiol, niacinamide, and probiotics, smoothes skin texture and helps fight both blemishes and signs of aging
  2. In the morning, Josh Rosebrook's Nutrient Day Cream SPF30, which protects against UV rays without clogging pores, or Bella Aura's Day Cream, with a microemulsion texture that is as light as it is moisturizing
  3. In the evening, a regenerating face oil with a fine, non-greasy texture, such as Vintner's Daughter's oil or SJO Skin's Happy Honey oil

Mature Skins

Which makeup for mature skin?

The ideal is natural makeup, which does not accentuate wrinkles.
The rule to follow: less is more. Overly marked make-up tends to age, we prefer fresh and light looks.

We prefer cream textures well hydrating, over powders which tend to dry the skin and mark fine lines.
The advantage of organic makeup is that with its care formulas rich in vegetable oils and natural antioxidants, it brings a real anti-aging action!

Which foundation for mature skin?

The choice of foundation is essential: opt for hydrating and fluid formulas that bring light to the complexion. And why not a tinted cream, BB cream, or CC cream to unify and sublimate everything naturally.

For the concealer, you need a not too thick creamy texture that easily blends with the skin.

Finally for a healthy glow effect, put on blush and/or tan with a cream texture.

How to make up your mouth?

Beware of too dark shades which tend to harden the features and ultra-matte lipsticks which mark all fine lines.

We adopt The tinted balms and moisturizing lipsticks, the pink, peach, and coral shades that bring freshness and pep.

Our additional tips :

  • Lips tend to get thinner naturally with age, so don't hesitate to redraw the outline of your mouth with a pencil before applying your lipstick.

  • For a plumping effect, the ideal is the gloss which gives volume to the lips.

  • Think of tinted balm with integrated SPF to protect your lips while enhancing them during the day.
